Frequently asked questions
How long do the solar modules last?
Most manufacturers provide a warranty for 25 to 30 years and the majority of experts agree that this represents the lifespan of solar electric modules. However, most modern solar panels have not been in existence long enough for us to really know how long they last and some experts believe it can be as long as 50 years. What is certain is that solar modules are extremely durable and therefore they makes sense as a long-term investment.
Will my solar system still work when it is cloudy or foggy?
Yes the solar electric system will continue to work in cloudy and foggy conditions, but its output will be reduced relative to the depth of the cloud cover. There is a greater reduction of power associated with winter storm clouds but the system will still produce energy.
Can solar panels fit on a flat roof?
Yes. Commercial solar electric systems are commonly installed of flat roofs. Mounted on "tilt-racks" solar panels are put at the optimum angle .
Are solar panels too heavy for my roof?
No, solar modules are very light. Combined with the rails they weigh only 3 lbs per square foot and a total weight of 23lbs.
Are solar panels durable enough to withstand hailstorms?
Yes. Solar modules are very durable. They are made with strong aluminum frames and strengthened tempered glass designed to withstand moderate hailstorms.
